Introducing Our New Competition Logo
Logos play a pivotal role in modern branding and marketing. They are more than just a visual symbol; they embody the identity, values, and aspirations of an organization. When we set out to create the new logo for our competition, we knew it had to be meaningful, distinctive, and resonate with our audience.
The creative journey for our logo was led by Pearl, the mastermind behind Meiburg Wine Media's design team. Reflecting on the process, Pearl shared:
"When I asked Debra what the core value of this competition was, she didn’t hesitate. She said we must focus on Asia. That’s when I knew the design needed an Asian touch."
Pearl experimented with various ideas, including calligraphy and designs combining English and Chinese characters. After much exploration, she presented the final logo to the team—a design that reflects both tradition and innovation.
At first glance, the logo resembles the Chinese character for wine, 酒. But upon closer inspection, it reveals a deeper story. The logo takes inspiration from the ancient hieroglyphic origins of the character 酒, which was derived from the graphic of a jar. Pearl explains:
"I am fascinated by how characters develop over time, and I’ve always been intrigued by hieroglyphs. The word 酒 originates from the image of a jar—a universal symbol for wine and beverages. This aligns perfectly with the evolution of our competition, which celebrates a diverse range of beverages."
The circular design surrounding the jar adds another layer of meaning. Pearl elaborates:
"The circle references the ancient character for water, which resembles a flowing river. The broken circle symbolizes movement and continuity, reflecting the dynamic nature of our competition and the ever-evolving beverage industry."
This new logo is not just a design; it’s an embodiment of our values, our connection to tradition, and our vision for the future. As we launch this competition, we are proud to present a logo that tells a story—a story of culture, creativity, and inclusivity.
